I do not understand why people do not put full effort in their lives. Well, at least this is their excuse to me when I ask " why do you settle for not being the best?". Now don't jump down my throat because I do not expect everyone to be the best. I do not understand why though, people live a life given to them either by god or by scientific evolution, or other unknown means that no one has discovered, chose to not try their absolute hardest to be the best. We can look at this few different ways.
Non religious point of view: If you are not religious or spiritual then you would tend to believe that when you are done life its over and that's it. If that is it then wouldn't you want to make your life here as full filled as possible and be the best at whatever it is you do. Do people get satisfaction out of just going through life with no hope of achieving greatness? Is that just a select few? If it is then why is that? Is it a lazy issue? A low self confidence in thinking that you have no chance of being great so why bother? Is it just simply a norm thing where " well everyone else says it's ok to do this and they seem to be ok so I will do it too"?" Maybe evolution is stopping people from turning on that part of the brain in order to control what people do. It's evolutions way of stopping greatness from happening so that we can die off and another ice age can occur and then a new civilization will grow and history repeats it's self. Maybe that the sad inevitable truth that other people have already seen and I am behind. So why try to be the best when at the end of the day it really does not matter? Maybe that's what other people are thinking. But if this is true hypothetically, then why are people so competitive by nature? Everything people do is in some way competitive. Either sports, telling stories, jokes, etc. These are all ways to try and compare yourself to the guy or beside you. Like why do people like jokes for example? Well it sounds as if that person is trying to make that other person or people laugh. Why do we want to take our time to make people laugh. Because it makes us stand out and gives us a sense of superiority in making that person laugh. It is the same as when you tell a dramatic story. You want to simply make it sound like you have gone through something dramatic that few have encountered and put yourself on a pedestal. People who do this excessively are called " one uppers", but the reality is that everyone does it. If we are all going to inevitably die whenever then why do we feel like what other people think even matters? Who cares if your mom thinks you are not going to be good in college or your dad will think you will be a good hockey player. It does not seem to matter because it is your life correct? There is a big contradiction here as you can see. If you take this approach and do not achieve the best but then you always are competing against others to gain social status or family status. It does not make sense. And of course if you ask people then they will say " no i don't care what others think" or " i am trying to be the best" .
the last quote makes the most sense but most people will not want to admit it. If you say you are trying your hardest but you are not the best then you are unconsciously calling yourself inferior to others and we just figured out that by nature no one wants to do that. So I am pushed to believe when people say I don't care or im not trying when it applies to a life long dream then they are admitting they are hitting a ceiling or a perceived ceiling. Unfortunately you can not prove this one way or another because people will never really tell you what is going on in their heads. Some will let you know more then others but everyone has secrets.
I do not believe someone can truly not put 100% into their life ambition no matter what it is. That is not your ambition then if you truly are not putting in 100%. So you are left with two options.
1) you do not really like what you are doing as a life choice and you need to pick something else
2) you are not as capable of doing what you think you can but do not want to admit it
Religious point of view: I could write for hours about religion but I will keep it simple because I have to go to work. If you are willing to say you are not trying 100% and you are religious then you are just wasting god's time. Simply said, go stand in a desert and see what happens or try as hard as you can and be honest with yourself about your abilities.
So I guess past all the B.S it boils down to either you are unable to achieve what you want or a certain level of what you want and can not admit it or your truly do not like what you do. If someone loves something then I do not see how they can not put 100% into it without it contradicting themselves. maybe this is where definitions get mixed up. Simply, if you are willing to pick a path why not put all you have into that path? If you don't have much to put into that path then face facts. You were not given as much as someone else and live with it or find a path that you were given a lot of talent in.

Why philosophy?
Hey everyone, I have started a philosophy blog too because I have always been interested in the ideas of everything. I believe this is the best way to describe philosophy because it does not pertain to simply one aspect of life. I believe it entails how someone chooses to live their life and why they make the decisions that they do. So I started this blog to be able to get my ideas out there because from what I hear, they are different from the norm. I don't know if this is because of the way I say it or because im from Russia, meaning I potentially have a different view or what exactly. But I am hoping people will one day look at this blog and give me feed back so I can get a better understanding of humans, because honestly right now they confuse me in the things they think and do.
